What do you do in your role?

My team are responsible for all of the educational guides and buying recommendations you find on the site. We're the wordsmiths, so whether you're reading our review of the latest iPhone or learning about the technology behind the NBN, it is the editorial team weaving these words together.

There's a lot of moving parts in the editorial process, and my job is to keep it all running smoothly. We all work together to brainstorm new ideas, writing and publishing the pages and analysing the performance of each page afterwards. We create images for these pages, shoot videos in-house and share our work through a number of social media channels.

Describe your typical day working at WhistleOut

Every day is different depending on which team I'm working with. I might be brainstorming with the editorial team, developing an outreach campaign with our communications team, helping design a new page element with our designers or crunching the numbers and hunting for opportunities with our analytics team. I also write and edit articles, so I need to find a quiet time each day to focus on getting my thoughts down.

What is your background/experience?

I started my career as a video editor working for TV networks, including SBS. I then took a job writing for technology website CNET where I covered smartphones and portable devices. I started shortly before the first iPhone launched in Australia and I've never looked back.

What do you like about working at WhistleOut?

One of the main reasons I love working here is because I get to be a part of some many different projects. We all pitch in and we are always learning from each other. The company has a real feeling of forward momentum and growth which I didn't find when working for larger organisations.

How would you describe the culture at WhistleOut?

WhistleOut has a really collaborative vibe. We all like working together, brainstorming the next big thing, solving puzzles and learning from each other. We're a really productive group and we have fun doing it.

Describe your typical day working at WhistleOut

I love that every day is different. I am able to manage my own workload and I’m encouraged to think creatively.

What is your background/experience?

I applied for the role at WhistleOut while completing my final year of a double degree in Actuarial Studies/Economics at UNSW. The role at WhistleOut was particularly appealing because of the opportunity to learn more about data analytics and marketing which was an interest.
